Born in Münzbach, crowned in Colorado
After the development and production of the drivetrain for the P62-2 road car at JUBU was successfully completed, Radford motors entrusted us with a quite bigger portion of work in a way crazier project: The Radford P62-2 Pikes Peak hillclimb car.
The goal was nothing less than to build a Pikes Peak race car with 700 hp that would be able to win its class on the legendary colorado hillclimb. With only nine months of time ahead and lots of loose ends in the beginning, this was quite a challenge - even for our well-established team.
For the project we developed the 700hp engine with a bespoke sequential gearbox, all the electronics as well as many other bits and pieces at JUBU HQ, built the driveable car as rolling chassis, tested it on our dyno, developed and implemented a special high-altitude engine mapping, did a basic suspension setup on Pannonia ring and finally flew it to the USA where Radford motors finalized the vehicle with bodywork and aero. During final setup, training, qualifying and race, the JUBU technicians took care of the precious car and helped to prepare it well.
It was a quite a challenge for our team, but in the end it all paid off: Tanner Foust was able to win his class (exhibition) with the Radford P62-2 PP and finished P8 overall.
