With sporty gearboxes, a certain amount of wear and tear on the components is to be expected. With higher mileage, the gearbox (or individual gears) often no longer shifts properly, the gears grind, the gearbox makes strange noises or causes unpleasant vibrations in the drivetrain.

If one or more of these symptoms occur, a gearbox overhaul can provide a cost-effective remedy. By replacing worn components at an early stage or repairing a defect in good time, expensive consequential damage or total loss of the gearbox can be avoided.

After receiving the gearbox unit, we open it up to find out which parts need to be overhauled or replaced. Following the inspection, you will receive a detailed quote for the overhaul and all necessary spare parts (the price quoted refers to the labour costs for cleaning, inspection, fault analysis, overhaul and reassembly – excluding any necessary spare parts).

Scope of delivery/services

• Opening of the gearbox
• Cleaning of the interior of the housing and rough cleaning of the exterior
• Inspection of all gear wheels, synchroniser rings, synchroniser clutches and bearings, as well as the shift forks and all small parts
• Preparation and submission of a damage report and a quote
• Working time for opening/inspecting and diagnosing the gearbox (excluding any spare parts that may be required)

Options

• Cleaning and opening of the limited slip differential, including assessment of the damage and preparation of a repair quote.
• Housing restoration: Chemical cleaning of the housing, glass bead blasting of all aluminium parts and yellow zinc plating of all steel parts and screws.

NOTE:

The price quoted is for the labour involved in fault analysis/damage assessment/quotation preparation and cleaning only. The final total overhaul costs can only be reliably calculated after the gearbox has been opened, depending on the spare parts required. Once the gearbox has been opened and the wear/damage has been assessed, you will receive detailed information on the existing wear and damage pattern as well as a binding quote for the repair, including all necessary components.
