Did you know that the first Lotus Emira V6 models were delivered ex-works with a design flaw in the cooling system? The gearbox oil cooler and the intercooler share the same cooling circuit. The result: under load, both systems heat each other up. The intercooler temperature rises dramatically (which noticeably reduces engine power) and the gearbox becomes overheated.
We analysed and resolved this issue at an early stage. Our system is so effective that Lotus Cars UK has now adopted precisely this principle as standard in the latest Emira models straight from the factory.
With the JUBU Upgrade Kit, you can retrofit this crucial update to your Emira – cost-effectively, efficiently and using the finest materials.
Here’s how the upgrade works:
Instead of cooling the gearbox with the warm charge air, we integrate the gearbox oil cooler into the significantly larger engine cooling circuit using our bespoke moulded hoses. This simple yet highly effective separation of the systems is an absolute game-changer for your car’s thermal management.

Pro tip: To unlock the full thermal potential of your Emira, we also recommend fitting our JUBU water temperature cooling upgrade (2GR-FE). The cooler the engine coolant, the more effectively your gearbox will be cooled! (Note: A larger gearbox oil heat exchanger is only required for extreme power increases of 600 PS or more).
