During long journeys, or particularly in regions with higher outside temperatures, the standard thermostats operate well above the optimal temperature range. The engines were developed by Toyota for front-engine mounting and thus receive significantly more cooling from the airflow.

The manufacturer has deliberately set the target engine temperature slightly higher due to emissions regulations; reduced performance and increased wear on the engine and peripheral components are often the result.

To bring the base engine temperature into the optimal range (and keep it there reliably), we recommend using the JUBU upgrade thermostat.

The JUBU upgrade thermostat ensures a reliably lower engine temperature, even at higher outside temperatures and/or during track use, by opening earlier. This helps to improve engine performance whilst avoiding unnecessary wear (caused by excessively high engine temperatures).

Options (select variant)

• Variant 1: ‘Road & Track’ – thermostat opens at 77°C, ideal for sporty road use and occasional track days
• Variant 2: ‘Ultimate Race’ – thermostat opens at 68°C, ideal for demanding track days and road use in regions with high ambient temperatures; conditionally suitable for road use in cooler climates!

NOTE: When using the ‘Ultimate Race’ thermostat variant for road use, as well as in low outside temperatures combined with a very cautious driving style, the ‘Low Coolant Temperature’ warning light may occasionally illuminate.
